Summary

A method for identifying a kidney condition of a patient includes receiving a urine sample from a patient. The patient provides the urine sample a predetermined amount of time after having been administered a dose of a sugar 5 alcohol. The method also includes determining whether the sugar alcohol is present in the urine sample. The method also includes identifying a kidney condition of the patient, if the sugar alcohol is present in the urine sample.
